Colonization: The English quickly set up
plantations to grow sugar, which became Jamaica's main export. Slavery: To work on these plantations,
the English brought many enslaved Africans to Jamaica. This had a lasting

of Jamaica, Religion Christianity: The English brought Christianity
to Jamaica, primarily Anglicanism Food Cuisine: Jamaican cuisine reflects both
English and African influences. Dishes like jerk chicken, rice and
peas, and patties are common, showcasing a blend of flavors.

landscape. Traditional
music and dance forms, like Bharatanatyam, also became part of Caribbean
culture.

The Chinese were Indentured
laborers were people who agreed to work for a specific period of time

New Year and the Dragon Boat Festival. Many Chinese people worked in shops
and became an important part of the community.
